Last year, health care plans across the country were faced with significant cost pressures. But even among these challenges, business performance stayed strong for Blue Care Network. In 2024, we maintained membership levels of nearly 824,000 and 36.5% of the Michigan HMO market.
BCN worked diligently during a financially challenging year to deliver quality and value in our products and programs. In service to our customers and members, we made sound decisions that helped control costs and remove barriers to accessing health care through value-based initiatives, our strong network of providers and utilization management strategies.
In 2024, new relationships and technology helped us deliver quality-driven, cost-effective health care that supports our members’ total health. We partner with providers and hospitals across the state to make changes for a better model of health care delivery that leads to better outcomes with less hospitalizations and ER visits ― preventing unnecessary health expenses and delivering more value overall to our customers and members.
Our commitment to providing affordable, high-quality health care has earned BCN a 4-star rating in 2024 from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Our high-performing clinical quality measurement scores help make us a top-rated health plan with 70% of our commercial measures performing in the 50th percentile or higher. This means our customers can feel confident in the value they’ll receive from our products ― and the quality their employees get from our plans ― when they choose Blue Care Network.
