Looking back on the past few years, we can see how much our lives have changed. Health care has changed dramatically, too. Adapting to the pandemic, primary care providers moved toward more innovative, accessible ways of delivering patient care. Convenience is now of greater importance when considering where to go for care — for you and your employees. We also recognize the importance of balancing your need to manage health care costs with members’ need for quality care and convenient, modernized care choices. I’m proud of the steps we took last year to begin addressing these needs. We lowered out-of-pocket costs for virtual visits, strengthened our provider partnerships for more prescription drug cost-savings and developed a behavioral health collaborative care model that gets members the help they need, at the right time and place. In addition, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded our BCN Advantage products a 5-star rating, validating our emphasis on member benefits and health care quality. Adding a customized, digital Member Handbook and simplifying Find a Doctor online searches are examples of how we’re developing better, personalized experiences for members. Our 2021 annual consumer survey indicates these enhancements are making a difference in member satisfaction. More than two-thirds of our members gave their Blue Care Network plan a rating of 8 to 10, on a scale of 0 to 10. And you can count on us to keep our communities healthy and safe. Through partnerships, we helped distribute flu vaccines to protect neighborhoods from influenza and delivered behavioral health services and support for those in crisis, including the emotional support needed in the wake the Oxford high school tragedy. We’re moving in the right direction but have more work to do. As health care continues to evolve, we’ll continue to capitalize on the right technology to create products, programs and services that meet your needs for convenient, affordable health care options.
