Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan continues to support Michigan’s diverse business population with our community business partner, the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC), as they present the 2014 Michigan Minority Procurement Conference, May 6-8 at Detroit’s Cobo Center. For over 30 years, MMSDC has hosted this conference, drawing more than 1,500 attendees every year. With over 300 exhibitors, this is the largest procurement fair opportunity of its kind in Michigan. “Every year we look forward to participating in this event. It brings a spotlight to Detroit, and all the businesses that thrive here and those that want to do business with corporations based here”, said James Line, director, Procurement BCBSM. “This year the MMSDC has added a Health Care Track. They understand the importance of supplier diversity in the health care industry. We are always happy to support, because we realize that working with women and minorities is critical to our success as an organization, especially as we adapt to changes in the health care industry. Diverse companies bring value in helping us achieve cost savings, as well as innovative solutions to our rapidly changing business needs.” Erica White, supplier diversity administrator at BCBSM, will be presenting ways to gain competitive advantages in a changing health care environment. BCBSM social media manager, David Murray, will also be presenting ways to use social media as a business to business marketing tool. Register today, for the 2014 Minority Procurement Conference.
