Blue Cross and Blue Care Network opened the doors this week on its new customer service and sales center in Traverse City’s central business district, continuing the company’s years-long trend of investing in Michigan’s core cities. The new office is at 202 E. State St. in the City Centre Plaza, which has been equipped with the company’s cross-and-shield logo signage. Offices for sales, marketing and provider consulting functions occupy the entire second floor, while a walk-in customer service center is housed on the first floor. BCBSM and BCN members will benefit from an improved customer service experience in the new office, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The walk-in center will have updated furniture, a better layout and more privacy for customers meeting with customer service specialists. “There’s going to be a much more customer-friendly waiting area and service area,” said Paul Fitzgerald, a senior analyst for BCBSM’s West Michigan service centers. The walk-in center provides a wide array of services for Blues members. “They can pay bills, they can look at claims, claim issues, coverage benefits eligibility,” Fitzgerald said. “Any type of question they have, they can come in and talk to somebody there.” The new location replaces the former service center on South Garfield Avenue, near the Cherry Capital Airport, which was sold to an automotive dealership.
