Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has earned the top ranking for customer satisfaction among Medicare Advantage plans in Michigan for the second consecutive year, according to the JD Power 2026 U.S. Medicare Advantage Study.
The annual study measures the experiences of Medicare Advantage members across eight areas, including trust, access to health services, coverage, ease of doing business, digital channels, problem resolution, interactions with representatives and help saving time or money. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan ranked highest in all eight dimensions measured in the 2026 study.
Blue Cross has introduced a range of programs and service improvements in recent years to make health care more affordable, accessible and easier for Medicare Advantage members to navigate. Those efforts include:
Affordability initiatives focused on responsible stewardship of health care dollars and broader solutions to reduce health care costs and insurance premiums. In 2025, Blue Cross used eight cents of every dollar for administration and has committed to reducing administrative costs by $600 million over three years.
SilverSneakers fitness benefits included with most Blue Cross Medicare Advantage plans, providing access to more than 14,000 fitness locations, specialized classes, seminars and personalized support.
An improved digital experience through bcbsm.com, the Blue Cross mobile app and an online member account that brings benefits information together in one place.
Personalized member engagement, including an enhanced onboarding experience designed to help members better understand and use their benefits.
Expanded virtual care that connects members with board-certified doctors and nurse practitioners for physical and mental health needs, as well as dentists for oral health care.
Fewer prior authorization requirements and new tracking tools that allow members to monitor authorization requests through their online account and receive push notifications.
Greater access to behavioral health care through the Collaborative Care Program, available in more than 320 Patient-Centered Medical Home primary care practices.
Additional care management and advocacy support through Blue Cross Coordinated Care.
The recognition reflects members’ experiences with their coverage and the service they receive. Blue Cross is committed to using member feedback to improve access, support and the overall Medicare Advantage experience. The results were based on an online survey fielded from January through June 2026. JD Power received 14,559 completed surveys nationally from adults enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans.
